Dennis Rader, better known as BTK , by his alias that designated his method (for its acronym in English): B-Bind (bind) , T-Torture (torture), K-Kill (kill) ; He was a murderer from the city of Wichita, Kansas between the years 1974 and 1991 and who for 30 years kept the police busy after him.

In 1974, the police were alerted and alarmed when they learned of the case of the homicide of the Otero family , made up of 5 members of which 4 of them were Rader's victims: Joseph, 38, Julie, 34, José, 9, and Josephine. of 11; the eldest son, 15-year-old Charlie, who unfortunately was him, who found his family in a terrible scene of death. After this fact, the police were trying to identify the possible suspect in this heinous crime. However, it was not until the police found a letter from the murderer among one of the engineering books in the city's public library that the alias "BTK" took on a different meaning.
Days before finding the letter, a young man confessed to being the perpetrator of the crime and implicated 2 more people, the police when investigating the histories of the people, discovered that they had a psychiatric history; When this letter was found, the details of the family's homicide and the places where he had left them and the police had found them had a degree of detail that indicated without a doubt that the murderer was loose and that the previous ones were not even close to be the perpetrators of the murder.
After this letter they followed even more, in cereal boxes or addressed to a TV station in the city (KAKE), it was clear what this individual was asking for, attention, and not only from the police, but also from the media and moreover, he came to express it in his letters: "How many do I have to kill before I can see my name in the newspaper or any national attention ...?" . It was evident that the Wichita police were facing an unprecedented case in the city, in an attempt not to alarm the population, the police tried to hide the first letter and the first criminal act but it was a failure, since the only thing That provoked were more homicides, for which the population was informed that this person was extremely dangerous , since in one of his letters, BTK made fun of the police, mentioning that he led a normal life within the community.
Dennis Rader continued to kill and evade the police and provoke the media and authorities with his endless leads, Dennis managed to hide in plain sight , was very active in his Lutheran church (being the president) and also supported his children in scouts, he was a municipal official and security alarm installer.
The last letter BTK sent to the police was a floppy disk in January 2005 ; object that they were able to trace to the Lutheran Church of Christ and managed to get his name: "Dennis", however they did not have solid grounds to arrest him, until they located that his daughter had attended the doctor to perform a vaginal cytology and requested a permit for a DNA sample that they managed to compare and relate to BTK , so on February 25, 2005, 60-year-old Rader who lived with his wife Paula and was the father of 2 children; he was arrested the same day. When the officers began to question him, Rader was quick to speak and describe the 10 homicides that were challenging him , however he seemed upset, not at being arrested, instead, because the police officer, Landwehr, had promised him that by sending the floppy would not be traced and had been lied to: “but we had such a good thing. You and I were in touch ” was Rader's response to such events. The last thing Rader mentioned in this interview was that with age he was beginning to slow down his ability to make his murder plans come to fruition.
On June 25, 2005, Dennis Rader came to trial pleading guilty to the murders and remains in prison to this day.
